What wars have your relations fought in?
My Fine fantastic-Grandfather fought in WWI, I had four Great-Uncle's who fought in WWII; One in the Royal Navy, one in the Desert Rats, one in Italy and one in Burma/East.
Another Profound-Uncle on the other side was in the RAF during WWII and another relation was in the Parachute Regiment.
I'm just interested to know other peoples' stories from any era, anything at all, but please federal where you're from.

I asked a simple question over whether peoples' relatives were in nearly the same perspectives as mine were.
I'm in America. My dad fought in WWII, Army Aircorp. He joined when he was 17. He was in England and France.
I'm in the U.S. My patriclinic grandfather fought in the Volksturm for Germany. My great-grandfather fought in the German army during WWII. My maternalistic g-father fought in Korea.
I also know my great ancestor on my fathers side fought in one of the minor crusades. This is how the kinsfolk wound up in Germany, the church paid my great ancestor in land.

I don't have a lot of info of more than two generations back. None of my relatives "fought" in the war. My dad spent the WWII in the First Animation Unit (reporting to Lieutenant Ronald Reagan) making public relations films.
ww1 to now I am in the us and I am in the US Army myself and I had 8 relatives who fought in wwll and 7 came back got a despatch from fdr to prove it and my uncle was special forces marines

I was born in Canada, but my genesis is American. Her father was a sergeant in the Anti-Aircraft Division of the US Army during World War II. He was drafted when he was 18. He didn't like to talk about his war practice and all he ever told me was that it rained a lot in France. But his time overseas wasn't all bad; he met his wife there. She was an American Red Cross lady at the prematurely. He died of cancer in 2002.

Those members of the one's own flesh too old to serve became Air Raid Wardens, Home Guard, and Fire Wardens, one uncle was on duty on the roof of his Conurbation of London employer the night of the Great incendiary bombing raid. We could see the glow from our home borough in the suburbs and didn't expect to see him again. We were very relieved when he arrived home in the evening of the next day after completing his daily duties. Making get someone on the blower calls to establish ones safety to other family members was unheard of in those days.
Today is also noteworthy, it is the anniversary of the election of many MPs who failed to serve their country, some even breaking the code that no political activity should take strike it rich during the war, my Royal Navy cousin personally told me that instructions were passed through the ranks on how to vote, and if they didn't do that their tatty cigarette ration would be lost and they could find themselves serving for a longer period of time before the demob.

The US oversight is giving Chrysler money to buy old cars for $4500 towards the sale of a new Chrysler. Chrysler already took many billions of $$, curious interests have pretty much been given a huge chunk of the company and certain politicians supporters more of it.
This will aggrieve Ford's business, a company who stayed afloat taking None of our money at a time when things have been very ardently for them.
Isn't this extremely twisted and wrong? Not to mention taking our money to just give away to individuals who got part of the entourage for nothing, but being political ally's, and others for supporting one business over another because of cheaper prices paid for by US to support favoritism for one cast over another.
How would you like it if you worked for Ford and your job was put in jeopardy over this? Or if Obama just decided he liked a competing troop better than the one you work for and decided to give them a competitive advantage?
It's not like this isn't already going on. The tarp money is being hand-me-down to support friends of the administration and hard foes. To bail out banks Senators have interest in that don't qualify. To commandeer some banks steal other banks assets and leave their stock holders with nothing.

I'm telling you, if this doesn't a halt we will all be working for the government. Directly or by large corporations owned or otherwise controlled by the government. Insurance industry, Auto industry, energy industry, Banking work, home industry, farming industry, media, State and Local governments are being given net and controlled by the feds as well. If these people are not pushed back, the government will control your medical, your job, make it impossible for you to start or own a young business or any way of making a living not controlled by the federal government. They will control your thermostat, where your children go to institute because they will ally with teachers unions to crush private and home schooling, and they have made it evident that the alliance with the Organization is more important than children's education when they scrapped a hugely money saving (saved 45% off the set someone back of public education) voucher program that got kids in DC out of horrible dangerous schools with terrible results in cultivation and helped them into private schools with excellent results and a nice environment for the children in stead of iffy, but the alliance with the teachers Union was more important than the children's safety, the quality of the education, and the huge bucks they were saving on the program. That has to tell you something.
The Obama's have also profited richly when Michelle Obama devised a program to shove the in want out to crappy clinics so the rich could have better access to the nice facilities in a University Hospital in Chicago. There is a congressional scrutiny underway started by democrats and involving the extremely leftist democrat Bobby Rush.

The Obama administration is not about what is good for the poor, but they are elitists who align with the rich and lie to and use the poor for political reinforce to help their big support in the circles of the world's elite billionaires. On Burma, caution must always be the watch word
In the face the semblance of political reform, the world must be careful about expecting too much too soon from the still authoritarian rFor the first time in decades, there is a sense that real change is on the way in Burma. Over recent weeks, US Secretary of Regal Hillary Rodham Clinton, UK Foreign Secretary William Hague, philanthropist George Soros, as well as journalists and diplomats, have been lining up to defray recently released pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who has recently announced she will run in parliamentary elections.
A critical number of political prisoners have also been freed from prison, but as recently released Burmese activist Loosely friar Ashin Gambira - one of the leaders of the "Saffron Revolution" - pointed out, the character of the Burmese rule is still very much that of a dictatorship. Among the other released prisoners are well-known 1988 Generation student leader Min Ko Naing, and Shan gaffer Hkun Htun Oo.
Certainly, the atmosphere in Burma seems to be one of optimism and openness, as foreign reporters are permitted to stick into the country. But many are keeping their fingers crossed because they know that, given the kind of grip the military has on the wilderness, all these reforms are reversible. It's understandable that people are glad to see the release of hundreds of political prisoners, but the happening that these people should not have been jailed in the first place makes one wonder if their release is enough. What really counts is what the recently elected Burmese ministry does from this point on. In other words, what is the assurance that the military will not roll back the clock if things don't go the way they demand them to go?
